The Snowpocalypse of 2014 has certainly engulfed Pine Plains this winter, but that hasn’t stopped the construction at Harvest Homestead Farm. We managed to get our barn up and weather-tight during the unseasonably mild autumn; now we’re hard at work behind thankfully closed doors to get our interiors all buttoned up as well! Nearly 100 people visited us on the farm this past weekend on day trips organized by Dutchess County Tourism and Metro-North. It was a beautiful sunny weekend at Harvest Homestead Farm, but it wasn’t exactly your typical distillery visit, mainly because…well… the distillery is still being built! That didn’t stop the busloads of eager travelers who were treated to a guided tour of the property’s historic remnants...
On May 1st, we welcomed the Wall Street Journal’s Jeff Bush and Jennifer Weiss up to Harvest Homestead Farm to explore our historical roots and discuss Dutch’s Spirits upcoming plans. They interviewed Dan Adams, current landowner and son of Charles Adams, who worked at the farm during the time of Schultz’s bootlegging operation. They also took a walking tour and spoke with our Co-Founder, Ariel Schlein, about the past, present, and future of Dutch’s Spirits.
We’ve been putting our farm through its paces! First came the archaeologists, then the bulldozers, and now…’tis the season! The soil has been tilled and seed has been sown for our very first crops of corn and barley. We couldn’t be more excited to share our land’s progress throughout our inaugural season. Let the grains begin!
